Gums can recede leaving more of the teeth exposed, resulting in discomfort, discolouration and an altered appearance of the smile. Gum recession can be caused by different factors and can easily be prevented:
– Good oral hygiene and regular dentist visits will prevent gum disease, the most common cause of receding gums.
– It’s important to brush teeth gently as aggressive brushing can damage the gums.
– Teeth grinding creates pressure on the teeth which also affects gum tissue.
“If you’re seeing potential signs of gum recession or are concerned about preventing gum recession, it’s time to visit your dentist.”
