Having an overbite is not an uncommon condition and can be the result of genetics. Of itself an overbite is not a cause for concern but it can lead to dental and health issues. Some of the most common problems include:
– Tooth decay due to eroded tooth enamel
– Jaw or facial pains caused by strain placed on the teeth
– Gum disease if the gum tissue is damaged by the teeth
An overbite can be corrected “simply and permanently with orthodontic treatment” which can be arranged through your dentist. More detailed information about overbites can be found at https://yourdentalhealthresource.com/top-oral-health-problems-caused-by-overbites/.
