Were you aware that some categories of over-the-counter medication could harm your teeth and gums? This is primarily due to the fact that these formulations may sometimes contain ingredients that lead to dry mouth. Others could be overly acidic. 

If you hope to avoid a trip to your dentist, it is important to use the medications mentioned blow sparingly:

  • Aspirin (known for its acidic formulation)
  • Certain allergy medications can cause dry mouth.
  • The same holds true in regards to decongestants and cough syrup
