TMD and Bruxism
Stress and discrepancies in how your teeth bite together can trigger bruxism, which is the clenching and grinding of teeth. This can damage teeth, wearing down front teeth and chipping molar cusps, and lead to jaw joint issues, noise, clicking, and pain, often resulting in headaches.
Tooth wear can also expose dentine, causing sensitivity. Clenching tenses the jaw muscles and impacts the skull, sometimes causing aching, pain, or headaches, commonly associated with stress.

Snoring and Sleep Apnoea
Oral devices are an effective treatment for snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnoea. Snoring occurs when soft tissues vibrate as air passes through a restricted airway, while sleep apnoea disrupts breathing during sleep. Mandibular advancement appliances, such as the Somnowell Chrome or TAP appliance, position the lower jaw forward, stretching muscles and soft tissues, widening the airway, stopping vibration, and reducing snoring. These dental services improve sleep quality, reduce daytime fatigue, and can benefit both patients and their partners.
How Your Jaw Joint Moves
The jaw moves through rotation and sliding within the Temporo-Mandibular Joint (TMJ). Cartilage smooths this motion, but wear or buckling can cause clicks. Displacement of the disc can prevent full jaw opening. These clicks may be painless or painful and can cause jaw muscle spasms and discomfort, often referred to as TMD (Temporo-Mandibular Disorder).

Canine Build-Ups and Occlusal Therapy
The canines protect back teeth during side-to-side grinding. If canines wear down, the back teeth may fracture, especially if already weakened by fillings. Restoring canines prevents further damage. Occlusal therapy, such as an occlusal splint, helps alleviate bruxism, protects teeth, and prevents excessive contact from causing additional damage to teeth and jaw structures. I required a last minute appointment before I went on holiday, my usual dental practitioner, who I had been registered with for many years couldn't provide me with an appointment and weren't very helpful. However, Manor House were very accommodating and saw me the same day. The staff were extremely friendly and professional. I was given a free consultation and I didn't require any dental work, although the dentist (Matthew) gave me some advice for remaining pain free. The service that I received was absolutely brilliant and I would highly recommend the practice.
